Default 4g64 DOHC

ok here is the question. now before you guys flame the hell out of me and slap the search function on my forehead I have done about all the searching I can stand. With that being said.

What I am looking to do is swap a DOHC onto a 4g64. now I have one post from this forum that has helped alot. but the few questions I have are as follows:

1. What about the cam sensor? do I have to swap it out, can I use the stock...what to do with it. I dunno
2. Does anyone have a actual hardware list for this swap? This car is my daily driver i can't be down to long.
3. Also what else do I need, do I need to get a manifold, or can I use the stock one from a 4g64.

These are the only questions that I have. Every other forum I have been to i have been flamed to hell about it. Eventually my car will be on the receiving end of a turbo (Mitsu 16g) and I will be running 15lbs of boost on it. I would use the stock head, but I have a rather bad ticking sound coming from #4 piston in the head that no one can find anything wrong. But my car is as follows:

2004 Stratus Coupe SXT
2.4L (4g64)
F4a2 Tranny

Mods:

CAI
Free flowing exhaust.

Please someone help.

i hope that youre going to change the bottom end of your current strat motor, otherwise, youll only be running 15lbs of boost for a few minutes...

im going to move this to the eclipse section, so some of our eclipse motor gurus can have a poke at it...

guys who want to help...be subjective..."sell your car and buy a GSX" doesnt help him any...in the same way i could tell him "you should have bought an RT!"

actually the 4G64(which is the same one found in 3G RS/GS) has been proved to handle over 15psi on the stock internals. Donny Eley, former owner of AAI, currently is running 19psi on his 4G64 powered Galant.

as for the DOHC swap....I am assuming that you are talking about the Evo 4-7 head swap. if so, have you read this writeup? http://www.club3g.com/forum/showthre...=evo+head+swap

i would keep your head put it on the 4g64 "if you have a 4g63" and just change the block. oh and the only other issue is the ecu but im not sure about that in the 4g63 to 4g64.

I'm not very familiar with 3rd gens. but u guys are aware the 90-99 DOHC head will not fit on the 3rd gen. motor right? I've done the conversion before and its not easy, but in the end its very worth it. I still have a built 98' 7-bolt 4g64 sitting from my spyder sitting in my gsx right now.

ok, I have the 4g64 motor. Thanks for the link to read I have read that one before. The last and final question I have since that read doesn't mention anything about it. That is the only remaining mystery to me.

Besides the 4g64 is a better motor. I can turbo or SC mine and now blow up the pistons or the bearings. I love my sxt will all the options of a RT. except leather and the sportronic.

Why< if you dont mind me asking, do you want to do the swap? You can just slap a turbo on what you have and be fast enough.

well right now I am getting a loud knock from the valve train. I have taken it to the dealer twice and they dont konw what it is. I am turbo charging the car...I am gathering the parts for a custom kit now. but I dont want to put the turbo on and then all of a sudden boom and there goes the engine.

what year head are you looking for?....like i said...u can't use a 90-99 head....u may already know this but i'm just making sure u don't buy parts and they be wrong. the 4g64 from 90-99 is backwards of the 4g64 from 00-05.

I am either looking for a head from a evo 4-7 or I heard that a head from a 94 DOHC galant will work also (verification needed).
