Battery drain linked to fuses 22&23 2003 GT
Hello everyone. I have a 2003 Eclipse GT, and recently have been having problems with the battery draining down. I have had to jump start the carevery morning for the past 2 weeks, and again after work each day. I just replaced the battery about 2 months ago, and I have checked the battery voltage and the alternator and both seem to be fine. The problem I found was that the battery was drawing about 120 mA current with the key out of the ignition. I started pulling fuses in the engine compartment and found that when I pulled fuses 22&23 (which for some reason are together in a yellow plastic holder), the current draw dropped to about 1 mA. It seems to me that this excessive current draw is what has been draining my battery, and when I pulled the fuses overnight, the car started right up this morning. Fuses 22 & 23 are (according to the manual) for the Dome Light and Audio. I also found that when I pull these, the power door locks do not work as well. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to find the problem now that I have narrowed it down to these circuits? And is there a reason they are in the plastic holder that I can't take out? I don't think the fuses are blown, as the radio and dome lights work fine if I push the fuses back into place. Please help, I don't want to drive with all these features disabled forever.
Also, I took the car to the local Mitsubishidealer yesterday (before I found the source of the drain), and they told me that it was a battery problem. The battery holdsvoltage fine when it is not being drained, so I know that is not the case. Thanks in advance for any help.
