clutch, all the sudden loosened up
i have to have my clutch all the way to the floor in order to engage... fluid levels are fine, do i need to replace the whole clutch assembly? and about how long would it take to replace my clutch myself, because i can't afford to have it done by a mechanic.. i have a chiltons manual but still a little confused someone please help
Yea it does kind of actually, nd it slowly within a day became more and more loose and now to where I can't really get the clutch to engage, power shifting is like the only way I can drive
I'm not sure exactly where it is on this model. I had a '91 so I could tell you, but I've only had a 3rd G for a month. I'm not much of a mechanic, but I'm not afraid to try stuff. The clutch is hydraulic and engages and disengages through fluid, like a brake caliper closes via brake fluid. The slave cylinder is what controls that on a clutch. It can be bled like a caliper. The seals can leak and allow air to enter the lines and clutch won't disengage very well. I'm sure there are mechanics on here that can help you better than I, but I had my slave go out on my '91 en route to KC, 800 miles from home.
so i found where my slave cylinder was, and its fine, and i don't have any air in my lines... I'm pretty sure its my clutch, this is the first stick I've owned and i taught myself how to drive it, i was extremely hard on my clutch.. rather then sit in neutral at a stop light id just push in my clutch and wait, and now come to find out thats not the best thing to do... I bought a new Sachs clutch kit for like $115.99 its not top of the line or anything but for now it'll get me from point A to point B, next part is installing it, i went and bought a impact wrench to make it a little easier and i have a chiltons manual, so tomorrow I'm going to attempt on changing it, if a mechanic can do it i can do it, so we will see how it works out, thanks for your help and input though, i appreciate it
