Default Driver side floor floods when A/C is on

2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder

This just started happening, driver side (only) floor gets soaked when the A/C is running. Searching threads in this forum indicates it may be the evaporator drain tube.

Any idea how to fix this or point me in the right direction of a repair manual? I'm looking at the Haynes repair book.

Thank you for any advice!

It is the heater core. It is a common issue on these cars.

Your welcome. A FYI make sure when your reading the posts it is in reference to your exact car. Some of of the posts are for 2002's and our cars are different. Also, there is a excellent service manual at Tearstone for free.

Default Update

I took the car to a local A/C guy. He cleaned out some debris near the evaporator tube, but noticed that the evaporator housing was cracked. He was nice enough not to charge for the cleaning, but the housing repair is going to be big $$. Floor still floods but not as bad. I am sweating out the hot southern summer until I can get it fixed.

That's bull****. It isn't hard to epoxy it.

Pick up a wrench, you won't believe how much you'll save.

Default Epoxy

Sebba,

I'm sure an experienced car person could do the epoxy work. However, I removed the seats, and most of the console up to the dash trying to do this myself. Had no luck and took an entire day to put everything back together.

If you could post photographs of specifically what it is I'm supposed to be looking for it might be possible for me to pull out the wrench again. I also do not have access to a lift.

Thanks,
Stacey

I don't own a Mitsubishi, so naturally I don't have to get greasy very often. You don't need a lift.

If you utilize the best tool available to you (tah interwebz), you'll find various articles steering you in the right direction.

Like this one: http://www.ehow.com/how_4521309_repl...i-eclipse.html

Simply find the crack (if visible), and seal it.
