Default engine sound at first morning start

HI,
I am facing a problem lately with my Mits Eclipse GT 2000 with the first start up in morning. When the engine is first started up in morning, it creates a very unique sound(something like a pain in stomach of the engine). This sound is only heard when car is put into Direct gear drive. Till the car is in parking mode, the sound is not there. Also, this sound is not heard for rest of the day. It only comes when the car is cold at start and also goes off once I drive the car for 5-10 miles. I guess the problem, is only until the car gets heated up.
Can someone putin some thoughts.?
Thanks!

Thanksbuddies,
I will try to recrd the sound and pas it across.

and about the belts and trans fluid, I am not very aware. are you saying about transmission belt? I guess, the timing belt is in good condition.

is the problem seems to be severe and does it needs immediate attention.

Appreciate your feedback.
Thanks.

the only way to get a free diagnostic is if yourcar were getting a check engine light.

i dont know if the search is working again, but it is the lifters. this topic has been on the 3gs at least three times. the 3gs are notorious for ticking in the cold weather. just let your car warm up before you drive it and it should be fine. and do not gun it while it is ticking, its not good.

and no it can not be fixed...its nothing to worry about either
