another thing... look at half the people driving eclipses (mainly 2nd and 3rd gen). notice something?? there mostly in their 40's and up... people at that age just want something reliable, they dont care if its got 290 stock HP like the Evo

The only people ive seen driving a second gen are under 30...

Ya man I never see 2G turbos driven buy anyone older than 25. it is a high school kids car(no offence they are just cheap) and they are not reliable if you want a reliable car you buy a toyota DSMs are known to be under the knife 24/7 and 6G72s were made weak to lose the poblems of the 2G turbo models.

The 2Gs seem to break alot when upgraded, im sure mitsu look at it like well this wont happen here since 1) N\A cant be High HP without alot of $$$ and 2) 210 HP in 2000 and 2001 was the normal thing that was the time of the Vtech civic being 160hp and most cars of its time of birth were not much higher than that. Now honda has surpassed that hence the 4G being alot more as well. So that being said the 3G mechanically might be more of a daily driver car for an older person it is rather reliable and for the younger croud it cant be modded to easily and if you have the $$$ to mod it and break it then chances are you have the $$$ to fix it

I'm 25 and I'm the only person in this entire town (population 18,000) that has an Eclipse And I've only seen a handful of 3G's while driving through this state.

Dude your state sucks LOL... I see Eclipses all the time though usually the 3G and the 2G with a spattering of 1G's running around.

yea i see eclipses everywhere. Expecially the 3g's.

When they were making the gs's they werent trying to go for performance. They wanted a more reliable and good looking car.

I have also heard where Mitsubishi was trying to get a car geared more towards adult buyers. For a 3.0 liter engine it could have had more power from factory but I feel it was weak incase sales were down, they could upgrade the power for future sales. Some companies practice this already like the the GM's Pontiac GTO, it had 350 hp in 2004, after a bad sales year, they somehow found a 400 hp motor for it.

The BMW M3 and M roadster had 240hp back @ 1995 with a 3.0 engine
Honda Accord 3.0 liter 244hp 211 lb-ft
Camery 3.3 liter 255 hp 240 lb-ft
Z-4 3.0 liter 262 hp 232 lb ft
Lexus IS 300 3.0 liter 215 hp 218 lb-ft
Audi A4 3.2 3.1 liter 255 hp 243 lb-ft
Porsche boxer 2.7 liter( Base )236 hp (S) 3.2 liter 276 hp
Dodge stealth 3.0 liter 222 hp non-turbo with multi valve engine(?)

If the Eclipse had sold poorly, it may have had the power upgrades. It was always such a popular car that Mitsubishi just left it alone until the GTS. I don't know for sure but that's what I expect from car companies.

dude, I live in a city with 7,500 people (as of a 2000 census), and we have at least seven 2Gs, 8-10 3Gs, and one 1G .. and this is just what I've seen during my 5 minutes in and out before and after work... so I'm sure there are much more. Now, out of these... I've seen 3 that were fixed up a bit, and it wasn't that much.. except for this one white 2G eclipse.. had full body kit and air bags... **** like that.. it was bouncing around the walmart parking lot one night.. friend of mine told me he saw it off in a ditch wrecked one morning on his way to work
