Default power problems. help please

i have an odd problem with my 2000 eclipse GT.
when the car is idle (not moving) and i turn on my defrost, the car dies,
and i have to restart the car again.
i think its because of the air conditioning, because i think it automatically turns on the ac
when in defrost. and when i turn my ac in idle, the car dies.
any idea how to fix this or wat the problem is?
i just got a new battery so its not the battery.

Default RE: power problems. help please

Air conditioning compressor is my guess.Sounds like when it isactivated itis locking up the motor. It may be seized up. Jump outside and look at it. take the belt off and try to turn the whole unit with yourhands. Have someone else activate the defrost while your watching it from the outside. See if it locks up the motor. Your car has no power at idleso it is easily overpowered.
