Problem: Closing Convertible Roof

Problem: Closing Convertible Roof
Has anyone else had this problem?
When I close the roof on my 04 Spyder, the roof liner is getting caught in the linkage. There's a set of elastic straps that drop into place at the critical moment so the side edges of the roof liner can ride over the linkage. This fails 25% of the time and I have to yank out the roof liner or stop the roof 1/2 way to make adjustments so it won't happen.
The dealer says, "Well, when you drive with the roof open, the fabric shifts around a lot..." as if the roof will work fine as long as I don't drive with open top.
