No offense to all you 3g owners but, What the hell was mitsu thinking designing that? IMO they F*ed up. I dont know anybody who likes that style.

welllll..... you havent seen the 3G concept then.. the concept IMO is by far the best idea they had but they tossed it

they only kept the door design but they made it less agressive looking. the origanal concept looked alot like a ferarri front to back of course never made it though

 

why would you ask that on a mitsubishi forum? are you metaly challenged? honestly i like the 3rd gen yes you are intitled to your own opinion but use stupidity with causion please. i know lots fo people that like that body style look at my sig obviously there was enough to get a meet going and go to www.club3g.com and look at the members list...i swear.

 

or we could talk about all the 3Gs now a days that are running 13s in the 1\4 or better. there are quite a few runninng 11s now. They can be really fast.

But stock the car really is a joke, I like the look but it lacks power even the GT and GTS trim and the handleing is the worst of any "sports" car I have driven. It was built for luxary and it pulls that off well but most people like the eclipse as a sports car to build and the 3G needs alot of things to change to make it a contender but it is not impossible

 

what part isnt to like?
the fact that its a 100 times better overall in chassis design, reliability, ergonomics, and overall refinement?

or the exterior style?
if you're judging on style, you have a lot to learn about cars. Style is objective, so what you dont like someone else will love. and in the long term it's relatively unimportant. No one ever praised toyota for its camrys, but they sure sell a helluva lot of them.
the V6 is light years better than any turbo 4 in terms of overall drivability, smoothness, torque, etc. The turbo 4s never sold that well in the first place (the GSX never accounted for more that 7 percent total eclipse sales), which is why mitsu killed it off. So if you want to blame someone for changing the overall "attitude" of the car, blame the consumers for buying what they wanted.

 

Honestly I think a lot of people were just buying from the name that eclipse had established the 2 models before. I could really care less about its "reliability, ergonomics" if the thing is butt ugly. There must be a reason why they took the 2g style and modernized it.

I like the 3G look. the reliability thing was to save the car. the 2G was horrible IMO. I would never buy one they are just to prone to break down. the late 90s also had the tur bo faze die out and came back around 2002ish
