Default 6 x 9 speakers!

Hello, I just bought pioneer TS-A6991R 6 x 9 speakers for the rear of my 99 mitsubishi eclipse spyder gs and i took the mounting plate out and the speakers fit but the depth is off and does not fit properly, I was searching and some people said they drilled new holes and got them to fit, I was wondering if anyone could help me out and detail what I should do or if you took pictures of ur install so I can get an idea of how to get them to fit pretty nicely. thanks a lot! my rear speakers are all over my car haha...stuff's everywhere.

Ok I think I figured it out, and they're in...the two screws on the side I installed them so that the bracket is out as far as it can come and I used washers to make sure it stays tight and didn't install the other two to the frame of the car, but I used styrofoam and duck taped styrofoam to the frame of the car and to the bracket and it's deff gonna hold but the speakers stick out about an 1 1/2" and the grills won't fit properly over it..and I have no idea what I'm gonna do from here..any suggestions I'd be glad to hear them thanks!
