Weak aftermarket radio reception
Hi all..
I just installed an Alpine aftermarket stereo in my 2013 Outlander Sport with a bazooka tube. Love it, sounds awesome...
But.............
I noticed almost immediately that the radio reception is a bit weaker on some stations that were initially strong. Not a huge deal, because I mostly listen to the iPod.. but I would like to fix the issue..
My understanding is that after searching the web, that some newer cars have an antenna amplifier built in. I searched and found a picture of a harness from a 2010 and up. It shows a pin in the harness for an "antenna amplifier"
Should I be splicing 12v switched into this wire to activate the amp, and would it fix my reception problem?
Thanks!
Bill

There is a wire for the power antenna. This is not for a antenna to go up and down this for an amp for your antenna. That needs to be powered. your radio should have a power antenna out too. connect those together and you should be good.
