RE: 02 sensor help
id bet its the downstream one after the cat, its as simple as unpluging the wire and inscrewing it. Its not an important sensor it does nothing except tel you the cat is doing its job.
By the way, next time you can get that diagnostic done for free at aamco or most autopart stores.

RE: 02 sensor help
I'm a tad worried about P0141 code. My son has a 2001 Galant V6 getting this... unusual thing is check engine light does not come on. I mean ever. As in, not even when first starting the car. I'm worried it has been disabled by the very recent former owner. How can I check to make sure the bulb is not out. Or how would Ire-enable this light? I require it to pass a state inspection and of course I need to correct the p0141 code... or are they related?
Thanks,
GalantOwnersDad.

RE: 02 sensor help
I did do that today... and as you suggested the bulb was gone. I swapped out one, with another gauge light and presto. Service Engine Light Iluminates. Had local autoparts give me a reading of the codes and it was that P0141 code. Now I put the car on jack stands and I see a sensor right next to the oil filter in the exhaust. Is this the correct one? Bank 1 Sensor 2? 2001 Galant V6. I'm about to order the replacement. My local mechanic says order one with proper pigtail. He says the universals don't last that long. What has your experience been?
Ps. If this goes well and I get it to work, I will post pictures of where its located on the 2001 Galant v6.
Thanks.,

RE: 02 sensor help
The final word here. I was getting a Bank 1 Sensor 2 code - P0141 on a V6 in 2001 Galant ES. The sensor was the one toward the firewall of the car below/after the cat (there is one that is above the cat too). If you were looking at the enginefront or standing in front of where thebelts are. This would be on the Left below the Cat. I only had to replace the one to get this corrected. Seems many parts stores want you to buy two. I put in a Bosche sensorOEMsensor. I also had to reset computer bydisconnecting the battery.
A Mitsubishi mechanic showed me which one it was on this car. He said they are different between makes and possibly models. I used a 7/8thopen boxwrench end that has thatwratchet socket head instead of the a regular 7/8 wrench. This made it possible from underneath with the car on Jack Stands. I also let the car cool overnight and sprayed some penatrating oil onit prior to taking the old sensoroff.
With this as a guide for this2001 Galant V6, Bank1 is on the left if you are looking at the Engine from the front (where the belts are). That means Bank 2 is on the right.
Sensor 1 is before or in frontof the Cat. (not necessarily in thefront of the car) and sensor 2 is below orbehindtheCat.There are 4 on this model. Good Luck.
I hope this helps some folks.
