My car tends to lurch a bit some mornings when I start it. Never figured it was too much of a big deal until earlier it did it a little rougher than usual, I was only moving it into the garage, so I shut it off after I was done. Then a few hours later I started it, and no sooner than I did, I heard a popping kind of noise, and then it shut off. I tried to restart it, and it tries but the engine will not catch. All accessories and lights work. The car has 68k and I have never changed my spark plugs. I am thinking that might be my issue, but I would appreciate some advice. Oh, there was a strange burning smell for bit afterwards, but no smoke.

 

ok tune up is a good idea... your altenator maybe shot or your starter
