2004 Endeavor Transmission Help needed
To start this off I want to just say thank you for your time and any help you can offer, it means a lot to me. Secondly, I am an above average auto mechanic but nowhere near ASE certified. Here is my question: My 04 AWD Endeavor started failing to go into gear about 3 weeks ago, reverse, or drive would work sporadically, but when it finally caught it seemed to do fine so I'm believing that the torque converter has gone out. So I decided to tackle the job of removing the transmission and replace the torque converter myself. Heres the dilemma: I have never removed an AWD transmission and need some advice. So far I have removed 2 of the 3 transmission mounts, removed the wires from the transmission and two of the hoses that connects to the top of the transmission, and all of the bolts (as far as I can tell) holding the transmission to the engine and also removed the starter. How do I disconnect the rear drive shaft, CV Axles, and drop the transmission? As far as the CV axles go, if I remove the nut on the hub for the tire and pull it from there does the CV Axle just slide out of the transmission? Also I have no idea how to remove the rear drive axle. Any and all help offered is greatly appreciated! If anyone needs to ask a question to better help me out, then please feel free to ask.
