93 2.0 non turbo/ turbo head question

Default 93 2.0 non turbo/ turbo head question

i have a 93 gs non turbo which i just bought. the motor was blown the guy said so i tore it down to find out 1 of the 4 pistons was beat to hell by a broken valve, actualy all the valves were bent and one broken. my head is junk and i am in need of a head for a 2.0 non turbo. will a 2.0 turbo head fit on and work on my 2.o non turbo?

Yes it will work, but for the motor to run correctly you will have to switch the cams in the heads.

Just out of curiosity.....why do you have to swap cams? Is this a cam profile problem?

thats what i thought but i wasnt 100% sure. my non turbo head broke a valve off and it hammered everything even banged a hole through the piston. i found a cheap turbo head on e-bay that i bought. so all as i have to do is take the non turbo cams and roller rockers and swap them. right? sweet. im a rx7 guy here and this 4cyl stuff is kinda wierd to do after you been around the big triangle if ya know what i mean.

2.0L DOHC Cams are hydraulic. There are no rockers or push rods thats old school V-8s The values are pushed down my the cams directly with a spring to retact them.

Just remember to check for parts of the piston with the hole in it in the oil pan before firing it up again. For that matter make sure you can account for all the parts of the piston depending on the dammage. Good Luck!
