I need help my 96 eclipse will not shift properly. It started while I was on the freeway and I went to pass this car up and the car failed to shift properly. It starts fine, but when I take off it never shifts properly the RPM's go as high as 6000 and it will not shift! One of my friend's recommended some stuff called "Trans tune" but it did not work can someone help me out? Thanks.

 

From the year and possible miles I'd say this trans. has done quite well if this is your first problem. Has the fluid ever been changed? Even if you had given a better and more detailed explanation of the symptoms I doubt anyone could say, "just replace valve x". Auto trans. are complicated and need special testing to determine where the problem is. Even if you were told what to fix I doubt you could fix it yourself if you needed to get to the inside, especially if you don't have a manual. I would take it to an honest trans. shop. Honest will be hard to find and you will have to do a lot of investigating to get the right shop. I've never been a fan of the national chains so a local guy may be better. I would also get at least two opinions but don't tell the 2nd shop what the 1st said.
