Default Clutch Problem

I have 1999 Mitsubishi eclipse GS non-turbo. My cars clutch recently started to lose a drastic amount of pressure, today it started to be difficult for me to shift and i have to pump the clutch to get it to shift. For instance, I have to pump the pedal twice for it to go into first so i can get going and then i have to slam the clutch to the floor so it will release and then i have to slam it to the floor again to put it into second and so on. I was wondering if someone could give me input on what I should change. A part of me feels i have to buy a clutch kit but I have heard people saying I should change the slave cylinder first or the master cylinder.

Anyway, i would appreciate any input, Thank You
Devon

if it is cable clutch =your cable needs to be replaced if it is a hyd clutch check the fluid in the master cyl if it is low pull the carpet back under the drivers side and look for leaks if not check the slave cyl
