Engine: Eclipse '96! Car: Galant '89! Possible?
Hi =) New user here
I own a Mitsubishi Galant '89 GLSi (The european version) and I'm working on rebuildig it.. But I found out the engine was trash, so I came over an engine from an Eclipse '96, imported from japan to norway.. And I was wondering: Has this ever been done? Any one know if it's possible without to much troble? (By trouble I mean re-fitting the engine-fasten bolts and make the wireing fit) The Galant-engine is a 4G63 8v w/o turbo from 1989, and the Eclipse engine is a 4G63 16v w/turbo from 1996!
Sorry for my english.. Ain't so good at it.. Ask if there is something you don't understand from my explanation!
Greetings from norway =)

All right it's likely VERY possible. There will be quite a bit of work required though. You will need the turbo, the intercooler, all associated piping (Including intake and other various parts), the wiring harness as well as the ECU, and other small parts, and possibly at leas tthe start of the exhaust system (I'd just have an aftermarket exhaust put on to make things easier andways). But if you can get all these from the car you've come across then it SHOULD be a straight swap. With the addition of the turbo and the intercooler but all that shouldn't be too hard either.

Well the engine itself should be plug n play but then you'll have to pull the old wiring harness out and route the new one in and install the ECU. Then you'll have to do the install for the turbo. Otherwise yeah if you had a 4G63 block in there it should slide right in.

But I turbo-converted an other Galant '89 a while ago.. That also was an original GLSi with a 4G63 8v, wich I inserted a 4G63T from a Galant 2000 Turbo '85.. One of the engine-fasten bolts (what do you actually call that?) did'nt fit, so had to make a new one.. Is there a possibility that I will bump in to the same problem on this car? Thoug the engine from the 2000 Turbo was pretty old comparing to the car it was put in....
