i have a 96 talon tsi fwd. a few weeks ago my check engine light comes on and reads as a purge solenoid malfunction. what exactly does a purge solenoid do? what would cause that malfunction? now in any gear up about 75% throttle it runs fine but at full throttle it skips all the way through the rpms, could the purge solenoid cause this if not what would? it also has a very mild choppy idle.

 

i did a vaccum check and it was all fine turns out the plug wires were bad and spark plugs were improperly gapped.
