Default Lucas Oil

Hi, I've been using Lucas oil in my car for about a year now because it's leaking oil and I heard Lucas is good for oil leaks. I've just recently noticed like a knocking sound noise that I have never heard before since I bought the car about a year ago. I remember my dad used to use Lucas oil in his Ford Econoline-250 and it used to make the exact same knocking sound noise that my car is making now. He told me that Lucas oil contributed to the engine breaking down on him and his van only lasted about 250,000 miles. Does anybody here think this is a symptom or begininng of a break down to my engine because of Lucas oil. If it is,is there anything I can do about it before it breaks down? Please Help!!!

Lucas oil is justtemparary fix (band aid). You should of fixed the leak when you noticed it and I think you might be SOL. That stuff is not good for engines at all b/c that stuff is sooo thick.

How many miles do you have on the car?

lucas is a good product if used properly!
the key to using it is to follow the instructions. i can honesly say it extends engine life due to stabilizing the oil breakdown temperature and even sometimes goes as far as boosting oil pressure a couple of psi due to its "thickening" ability.
the largest key here is to use ood filters! the cheapest filter may not be a good one for a hard driven or a high performance car, the reason behind it being that some manufacturers use a bypass valve inside the filter, so when it clogs it opens and your pushing the unfiltered oil through your engine !!! thats a very big no no since inside any engine has very tight tolerances and aven a small shaving of steel can cause considearate damage to you crank, cams lifters.

before i bought my eclipse i had a 2002 Audi A6Quattro 4.2L 40V V8 with the MTM Blower on it, RS6 Exhaust, RS4 6 Spd trans and used the cheapie oil and lucas. when i moved from windsor to edmonton, i had to sell it and i had close to 370000Km's on her and compression across all 8 cylinders was less the 5psi apart on all cylinders and was 15 psi less than the factory spec!
but i used only the k&n filters.

I think oil additives are way overrated, just use an oem filter w/ mobile one oil and change your oil every 2500-3000 miles.

I had a talon w/ 200k miles changed the oil and filter every 3k miles w/ cheap crap and compression was 175k in all 4 cylinders and the leak check was less then 15% in all 4 cylinders.

Believe what you want to believe lol.

If its knocking w/ 194k miles you might want to think abt a rebuild.
