Default Replacing Alternator

I have a 1997 GST that had the stock alternator replaced by a stinger(rebuilt GM alternator) when I bought it. That alternator kicked the bucket about a month ago and it really wasn't work paying to have the same thing put in. So I bought a stock alternator which my husband thought he could put in. It turns out when the replaced it originaly the cut out the plugs....and you can't buy just the plugs you have to buy the whole harness and no one has one localy or even 100 miles away at any the the dealerships. If he could know what wires go where it would be simple to contect but he is down to four wire that he does not know where they go. We looked at the book and it doesn't show these wires, does anyone know either where I could find this info or know it themselves? It's really important for this to get done ASAP as I need my car since my husband will be leaving the country for three weeks as of next week. Any help or ideas would be greatly apriciated.

Default RE: Replacing Alternator

OK so we found a color coded wiring diagram online but it doesn't make much sense when you look at the alternator....if anyone thinks they can look at it and let me know I can email the document and go from there. Also are alternators the same for a AT as MT? Each time I ordered or checked prices no one asked if it was one or the other and the wiring diagram we got is for an AT...
