Default SPEED SENSOR & TCU MODULE BAD????

Hey guys, need some help here.... I just got a 1997 eclipse in great condition I thought. Two weeks after I got it, I had to take it to the shop cause it was stock in like 2nd gear after about 30min in the highway. It did run fine in the city but just not in the highway. Anyways, the guy told me it's was in "Limp mode" and the speed sensor needed to be replaced among with some "leaks". Unfortunally, that was $700. It's been 3 weeks and the problem came back two nights ago, took it to the same place and they just called me saying I need a Tcu Trans module. That I can only get that from the Mitsubishi dealership and it will run$400.. plus all their little extras is gonna be another $700. Don't have that type of $$$ to be handing out... and don't know to much about cars, so just need some advice for what or if this makes since to you experts!!

Kinda hard to diagnose the problem, but it does seem that it may have just been the TCU and not the speed sensor. For a bit more clarification, What model do you have and how many miles on it?

just reset the computer, unhook the battery cables for about 15 min, hook it back up and let the car run for about 15-20 min so the computer can relearn with the "new" TCM and it should clear out the SES light.........

Thumbs down 98 Eclipse in limp mode HELP!

I Recently bought a 1998 Eclipse Rs. and the engine compartment was disgusting so i pressure washed it. well about an hour after i pressure washed it the Check engine light came on.
Took it to Autozone and the code came up saying it needed a output speed sensor. Took it to midas and had it replaced. they reset the code and it almost immediately came back on. still in limp mode. WHAT COULD IT BE?
