I have a 2002 Lancer ES Automatic and I was getting ready to cahnge the transaxle fluid using Diamond ATF SP III. Is it just a simple drain and fill from what the owners manual illustrates or am I missing something?

nope... thats it. easier than an oil change.
I do it once a year on my car due to the ease of it.
