ok, so being that its getting cold out i let my car warm up before i get in it as im walking out to my car i notice an almost grinding sound so i pop my hood and check the oil the oil is fine...so i get in the car rev the engine a little bit, its still doin it so i push the clutch in and i stops which leads me to think its something wrong with the tranny....my friend has a 96 rs that does the same thing...what could it be i appreciate any help you can give me

97 eclipse rs 98k miles header intake exhaust all the mods if it makes any difference

When was the last time you changed the tranny fluid and what do you use?

as said check the fluid level and have u regularly flushed the tranny?

Replace your throw out bearing.

some slight rattling is quite normal on ANY manual transaxle. There are many sources of noise, from both inside the trans to the clutch.

Dont worry about it.

so ive checked everywhere for a tranny dipstick and cant find one the mechanic said their isnt 1 which is stupid in my opinionhe also said its most likely the throw out bearing b/c once it gets warmed up it stops

no manual transaxle has ever had a dipstick. From anyone.


and a throw out bearing would likely NOT stop making noise from warming up. Although its certainly possible, its more likely to be a number of other noises from the clutch/transaxle.
