I bought a 2g 4g63t for my 91' Galant VR4 , but I'm not sure if it will fit cause its a 7 bolt . Does anyone know if it'll work ? At least the block !

 

It should fit because people put 6 bolts in 2g's all the time. You should have bought a 6 bolt block, but thats ok. The only problemI can think of right now are the splines of the driveshaft and the splines of your transfer case. I dont think those would match up.

 

And just the block alone wont fit because your galant has a 6 bolt transmission, that will not bolt up to a 7 bolt block. So youd have to use a 7 bolt tranny.

 

Cool ! Thanks for the info ! But I was told that the 6 bolt crank won't fit cause the position of the bearing are different then the 7 bolt.

 

The bearing? The crank angle sensor wont work either. so the only thing you could do is get a 7 bolt tranny, or get a 6 bolt block. Are you fully building a motor?

 

Well now that I think about it, there arent any splines on the driveshaft, its just a slip yoke, I THINK. Anyways i dont see any problems with this swap. Ill look into this and get back to you, cause Im very interested to see if this would work without any major modification.

 

Hey ! I really appreciate it and I'll keep you posted . I just need something to get me back on the road for now while I build the original so I can keep everything stock if I wanted to . If the only thing is the crank and if it still works then I won't have to sell this engine . When I get back into town on the 19th , I'll tear into it !
