Default ecu problems i think

-Hi all, I m new here and would like to ask if anyone knos how to check an ecu with a meter to find out if it is good or not. car will stall when running and used to start back up if you tapped on the ecu in engine compartment. You would hear an electrical noise like it would make contact again and then i would know it was ready to start again. Its been in the garage for about a year now cause i have too many cars. If you have any info i would appreciate it. Also if the answer is to buy one and plug it in and try it.... any suggestions on where to purchase one at a good deal. thanks

The only way to run a continuity check on the ECU would be to test it when it is doing its little "thing". This no doubt will be a pain in the *** for you.

I would just say open it up and take a sniff. Should be pretty obvious. Maybe even visually you can see leaking capacitors or burnt components. Who knows what you may find.

If you dont want to dick around with any of that just swap it with an identical ECU and see if you still get the same problem.
