if you have the money to buy upgraded pistos, rings and rods than it will allow you to put whatever you want down the road and it also raises the cost of the car.

if you have the money to do it, rebuilding the bottom end will cost you from 900-1200 depending on the prices you get:
JE/Weisco/Scat/Manley Pistons - (8.5:1 or lower) between 390 and 450
Eagle/Scat/Crower/Manley Rods - between 290 and 400 (eagle are cheap and reliable)
Rings come with pistons
ACL/Clevite/Topline Rod and Main bearings - for both about 70-90 bucks.
While the motor is out, upgrading the motor mounts is a good idea also, a good set of urethane motor mounts will run you about 80 bucks. (this will make it a smoother ride with less wheel hop = better acceleration)
everything i just mentioned you can get at www . cimotorsports . net they are a great company w/ good prices and great customer service, that's where i buy all my parts from. oh also everything i just mentioned came from there and totaled about 860, antyhing over 500 bucks is free shipping i'm pretty sure and they also run 5% sales all the time.

like he saidd, if you have the money and you plan on modding it heavily later down the road then definetly build up the block. The stock block itself can handle 400hp. But with a build you can alot of hp. With a 16g they max out at around 350hp, so if your doing a build then thats not the turbo you want to do, unless your just looking to get around with decent hp for now and wait to buya bigger one.

depending on what youare looking for in the end... with a build block you can have a daily driven 450-550 whp eclipse... get a 20g or some kind of 50 trim, injectors, tune, mabey some ignition help and bam. good to go. although i'd prolly do a lil head work if you plan on going that high.

the problem with the 7 bolt motor which came in the 92.5-99 turbo'd eclipses is that they have a major manufacturor defect called crankwalk... which is basically destroying your motor. for information on it just do a serch on yahoo or something and you can read as much as you want. the 6 bolt engines came in the 89-92.5 turbo'd eclipses and do not crankwalk. TheEngineeer has a 6 bolt block with internals for sale right now. If you are going to mod your car... i'd definatly get a 6 bolt!
