i was wondering if anyone knows some easy, low-cost ways to increase the gas mileage for my 1991 eclipse, gas is up to $2.99 a gallon for the low end 87 octane, so i dont want to have to spend more than i need to for gas

 

Lower your boost. Keep your driving at low RPMs.... remember... when you are coasting with the car in gear you are using NO gas... when you idle you are using more.

 

if he's paying 2.99 for low octane i don't think he has a snail under the hood.

to be more clear, kinda old lady drive it. don't punch it when starting off, drive 65-70 on freeways, use cruise control when it's safe to do so, never punch the car (unless you don't mind using the gas), and keep up regular maintence. ie keep oil clean and new, keep air filters clean, etc. also, i believe, if you haven't already, and free flowing exhaust will help too.

 

If you are going to have a car like ours then you shouldn't worry about gas prices or mileage...These cars are made to perform, so let them..If you are into modding you're car then you can't worry about gas..Just have fun with it.

 

true that. But i can choose how much mpg i use. if i drive kindly/old womanish i get around 23 per gallon, if i'm racin' and flying down the freeway i get around 20.
