Default supercharger?

hey guys I was thinking about getting a super for my Lancer...I bought it used so the guy already put in a K&N short ram air intake and some sort of exhaust piping...any suggestions or hookups on superchargers? what should I avoid?

i'd go with a turbo in a 4 cylinder .,rember turbos work off exhaust gasses ,while supers work off the belt,so theres less strain on mthe motor.thats IMO.

goodness I did not know that. couple questions:
1. fact or myth: super boosts torque, while turbo boosts top end speed
2. turbo requires intercooler with accompanying blow-off valve

Turbo just has more lag but it takes more boost from a super charger to create the same HP from a Turbo. Yes a turbo will require an intercooler cuz think about it, you want thecoldest air to enter the intake and all a turbo does is re-use exhaust gases. You cant just let all that hot air right back into the engine. And you need a BOV to prevent compressor surging on the turbo.

a turbo does NOT reuse exhaust gasses you newb john. no exhaust gas is passed back into the motor. the exhaust gas are only used to spin the turbine. the intake side of the turbo is where the air is compressed and shot threw to the motor. it is only hotter because well the turbo is connected to the exhaust and has exhaust pas threw on side which is not all that far apart from where your intake side is. and the turbine spins so fast it creates more heat on top of that.

supercharges dont connect threw exhaust and they dont spin the RPMs that a turbo does so they run alot cooler but it is still a good idea to either use some sort of water meth or alky injection if your not going to IC it
