My Outtie has a tiptronic. If you're a manual enthusiast, you won't be overly impressed. It gives you control over the gearing obviously, but I would suspect that a true manual trans in the same car as a tip tronic would lose the race. The shifting isn't as fast as you would like when you're trying to sprint. Also, it's only a 4 speed transmission. My Outtie tachs at 3k going 70-75MPH. I had to settle due to there not being a manual option at the time. If you drive a lot of curvy back roads, it will allow you to pull out of corners and feel more stable than an auto trans as well as hold the engine at it's 3k sweet spot.
For convenience, it's great. For performance, at times the auto on its own seems to offer better pickup due to the fact that it will adapt it's shifting pattern to your driving habits.
