Default Bypass valve for intake?

Just got a C.A.I. with the air filter close to the fender. I've been told i cannot run through puddles fast without hydrolocking my engine. My friend's teggy has a bypass valve that prevents this. Should i buy one or would it not really be a problem?

you can get a splash shield to put under the intake, then the only thing you would really have to worry about is submerging the intake

the only way your gonna hydrolock from a CAI is submerging. Little splashes from puddles arnt gonna have an effect. Just stay out of really deep puddles and youll be fine

theEngineer is right a bypass valve for your intake is use less unless your going off roading and you submerge your intake in water i have a CAI on my eclipse i have went through puddles plenty of time you just can't go through the big ones... not tom mention the first day i put it on a went through an automatic car wash (i forgot about intake) well the filter was left on and it got soaked has soon as a took off the engine shut of........[:@]yeah i had the take the CAI off and spray quick starting fluid in the carberator (itis suppossed to evaporate all the water.... it started right up AEM's bypass vavle it a get quick scheme plum you would have to cut your intake in half... im not cutting my $250 intake in half
