Default How difficult is it to install 3000GT downpipe by yourself?

As always, I'm on a budget, and either way, I like doing the work myself. My downpipe has a nice sized leak in the flex/mesh section. The quote to have the shop do it was something around $700. I said, "haha, yeah, !#$% that." So I'd like to know, how difficult would it be to do it myself? Buy a replacement or upgrade (perhaps from 3SX, either way money would be saved if I did the work myself) and do it? Or is it just a bit more complicated than it seems?

My other question is that up to the downpipe I'm running Borla exhaust. Anything I need to know about the pipes meeting up?

A downpipe is a downpipe and shouldn't be hard to replace as a DIY. I can see your concern about the cat-back fitment (from the cat, back that is), but I can't help you on that, sorry.

Meh that's ok. A little help is better than none!

I jsut have to figure out the pipe size of that Borla first, I suppose, and find a downpipe fitment to match.

Here is what i would do, since i have a good relationship with welder i always have him do my work. But for a flex section, find a muffler shop or exhuast shop. They will be able to cut the existing flex pipe out of the downpipe, which is usually pretty small, and then just welda new one in there. I think i only paid like $30 to have it done. Its an incredibly simple job. That place was just trying to rip you off if all you really need is a flex pipe

Tough one! I would have the shop do it. It's very tight to work in the space around your down pipe.

700? hell no what an *******. Look idk what car u have but if u have a non-turbo then u dont need a downpiepe 3sx has headers that are long tube all the way up to the cat. and yes, a little thing like that shouldnt be much. get the 3sx long tube headers, you'll save money and have 2 instread of one.
