Major exhaust question!?
I have a 2004 Mitsubishi GTS with an Injen cold air intake and a JET reprogrammed computer and I have always wondered what would happen if I would take off my catyletic converter and weld just an open piece of pipe where the converter was. How much would that help? Will it cause problems besides my service engine light coming on. And if I would put an after market cat back system how much would that help in HP and Tourqe. Also does a new mass air meter help or a throttle body spacer or the Turbonator(not the tornado air or tornado fuel saver)? These would be very cheap ways to increase power if they would work.
First I hope you know that the JET chip you have will have to be reprogrammed every time you do another new mod....
If you take your cat. off and welded in a straight pipe you will only gain a few hp. One thing that would suck those is your not going to pass smog but if your not in cali you may not have to worry about that. A catback will gain you a few more hp. TB spacer maybe will probably gain you more hp but I don't think they make them yet for the 3G but I could be wrong. I never really researched if there availble or not.
What I would do is get an exhaust.... cam gear.... RPW cam... SAFC... then send that JET chip back out to get reprogrammed. Tune the ride and see where you at then.
