I currently run a '91 2.0 DOHC eclipse GS and want to upgrade the engine. Did they make 2.4 4cyl engines for the 1g? Have a low budget here, so need ideas. I want something fast for the local race track, but cannot run turbos.

I also see the galant for that gen. has a 2.4 will that be possible to put in the eclipse or just more of a pain??

well the 1st gen did not in fact use a 2.4l...and the 6th gen galant didnt either..you are thinking of the sohc 4g64 out of the 7g galants...those are not very powerful at all....145hp to the crank is all they have. It's a possible swap but not the most economic decision to make with this car.
