Default Clutch Master Cylinder

Anybody know where this is located off the top of their head? My dad's VR4 lost the clutch last night, and the first thing I want to check is the fluid for a possible leak before taking it to a tranny shop to have the clutch fixed.

If it is the clutch, how much are we looking at to fix it?

What do you mean by "lost the clutch"? Does it slip? Or when you depress the clutch pedal the clutch does not dissengage.?

You can push it to the floor with no feeling and it won't disengage.

first open the clutch reservoir, is it empty? if so yes you have a leak, and its most likely the master or slave cylinder. master will be bolted to the firewall on the engine side, and the leak will most likely be on the inside of the car under the dash, just look where the clutch pedal rod goes through the firewall. the slave cylinder is going to be bolted near the tranny under the engine. if one is bad replace both or you will get the problem again very soon

So, how hard is it to change these? Is it something to try on my own, or is it too much of a PITA?

Its fairly easy as long as you can get to it. The main bitch of it will to bleed it without air in the lines.
