I just bought a new key remote from the dealer (my old one broke) for my 1996 3000GT and now the dealer tells me that, in order to get it to work, I have to leave the car with them for a whole day and pay an additional $85 to have it programmed. Is this true? Is there some way I can get the code myself?

What about those remotes that say they will start any car? Would one of those work for my 3000GT?
