Default need some advise

I am looking into buying a 93 VR-4 with 136k miles on it. what should i look for when i go to check it out and give it a test drive?

just basic stuff i guess.....
no weird engine noises
no weird noises when shifting (if it not automatic)
everything looks good, not too much damage

Make sure to see if they fixed the coupler on the transfer case if it leaks all the brakes can lock up and that might not be good if your going 70 on the high way. there was a recal so the problem should be fixed but if not get them to lower the price so you can get it fixed.

also with a high mileage car, couldn't you just rebuild the engine if it's too high? Im really lacking in the engine department of cars, but wont rebuilding the engine, along with a port and polish and balance have the engine good as new?

i am pretty new to this stuff, but i am pretty sure rebuilding teh engine should have it damn close to good as new.

and again, are there any other major problems with these cars other than transfer cases going all explody?
