Default Need Some Help Plz

Just bought a 94 3000gt base auto trans with 110k on the motor and less then 3k on a rebuilt trans(Out of warranty of course was garaged winters so basically just sat letting it run out)about a month ago for 4k. Now about a week ago i leave work get in my car pop it into reverse and hear a loud clank, so i put a little gas into it and it doesnt move. I jammed on the gas a bit revving it and it lurched backwards and would stop itself. So iget it back just enough so i can pull out pop it in to drive and it seemed to drive fine besides a small whining noise when accelerating 0-20 after that it woudl go away. So im figuring transmission or possibly something to do with the axle. The day after,i get in it and its not lurching or making the loud clank when i put it in reverse but is still making the whining noise. Anyone possibly know what the problem could be and if it would be safe to drive until i can get it fixed?

Besides that it runs and starts smooth was older lady driven with maintenance up to date. Im leaning towards transmission and if thats the case anyone know a good spot i could pick one up called around and cant seem to find anything less then 2k.
