Default Questions about Electric Antenna

I have a 1991 3000 GT VR4 and have a question about the power antenna.

I have both a power antenna as well as one in the rear window.

My manual states that the radio decides which one to use to get the best reception.
The problem that I have is that when I start and run the car the antenna does not always go up but the receotion is OK.
My questions are the following:

Is the antenns always supposed to go up regardless of the reception?

When it does go up and I turn the car off it gets stuck and does not always go down. What would cause this?

Is their an after market power antenna available?

Go there and decide if you want to buy an oem replacement antenna or not. I have a '99, so I don't have any problems yet, but I think that they shouldn't be that hard to install....

I don't mean to be a post *****, but I keep finding more stuff. Here is a hidden antenna kit for your car. Personally, I hate the look of the antennas, so this is what I would get if I ever had a problem.

they also have the hidden antennas for under $20 on ebay... oh, and can anyone comment on the quality of those? Of coarse it says that the reception is crystal clear, but does anyone have personal experience? is it worth it or should i just buy a oem antenna?

I think we missed my real question:

I have a 1991 3000 GT VR4 and have a question about the power antenna.

I have both a power antenna as well as one in the rear window.

My manual states that the radio decides which one to use to get the best reception.

My questions are the following:

Is the antenns always supposed to go up regardless of the reception?

I worked on it over the weekend and it does not always go up. It appears that it depends on the reception.
Does anyone have a car with both a window and external antenna? I checked for electrical problems and could
not find anything wrong.
