Default ticking noise

I have a 1996 3000gt base model with 98,000 miles on it.It just recentley started to make a ticking noise in engine. I thought i could just change my oil and add some of that lucas oil additive for noise and high mileage. It is still ticking. Does any one know what to do and if these cars have the adjustable lifters?

They do not have adjustable lifters. When was the last time you changed your oil?

Sounds like lifter tick. Here is the manuals method for re-priming the lifters.

Slowly rev the car up to 3000 rpms (slowly, as in take like 10 seconds to reach 3k). Hold it there for 10 seconds, then slowly let off the accelerator till you reach normal idle speed. You may have to do this a couple of times.

I just changed my oil a week ago and added some lucas oil additive. The noise sounds like it is coming from the back by the intake pleneum. It is hard to tell though. The sound is like a fast ticking. I tryed the revup thing and it helped somewhat. Thanks any other ideas just let me know.

i had the same problem man, i talked to my friend who does nothign but dsm's and he said all mitsus have lifter tick naturally. Just put in an extra half quart of oil, when your dipstick reads full and it should fade away. I tried that and it worked fine for me.

I have the same thing going on in my 95..from what my mechanic says is that the opening for oil on the original lifter is only 1mm...the new generation lifters have a 3mm opening which solves the lifter tick..the lifters run anywhere from 175 to 225 and the labor to install was quoted at 850...I can live with it for now cause it goes away when the oil warms up
