Default 2001 Mitsubishi Diamante Temperature gauge problems.

Hey guys I'm new here. My 2001 Mistubishi Diamante LS (automatic) has 198540 miles on it. Ive reccentley noticed that my temp gauge will occasionally bounce back and forth from in halfway between hot and cold down to cold and back up and then it will sometimes stay at cold and seem to struggle to get back up. Does this mean my temp gauge is broken completely and is this something that I should really worry about? Athanks in advance, Donovan

Check the coolant temp sensor wires, and if they appear fine replace the sensor.
