Does anybody know if the voltage regulator on a 1989 mitsi v3000 v6 is internally in the alternator or mounted somewhere externally.

 

most were bosch types so internal reg. I think even most of the delcos were.
Its a pita to get them tho. They sit beside the rec bridge. Split the case, once the front is off, get a long thin philips down past the rotor and unscrew reg/rec assy from the rear case, get the backend off, youll probably snap off the brushes unless the rotorshaft is loose in the rear bearing and you get it out cleanly. Else you can cut the windings (3 wires) and then solder on extentions and resolder to the rec bridge when re assy (saves taking the front off, for now)
