i just bought my 92 diamante ls and the dealer messed up the timing pretty bad.. i was wondering if anyone could tell me what the stock timing should be at or had any advice.. right now the car is running terribly and shakes like crazy at an idle.. can anyone give me some advice as i am still fairly new to this.. thank you

 

woa if your timing is off then bring it back, actually you shouldnt even be running the car with the timing off because you could really mess your engine up, if it isnt already. You might just have to tow it back because that can result in a blown head and even cracked pistons at the extreme

 

Ok dude the things that can happen are endless with bad timing. The timing is marked all over the coponents the belt goes over. Line everything up!

 

Your timing should be set from three to seven degrees before top dead center. That's according to the specs in the Chilton's manual that I have for the 1990-2000 Diamantes.

I answered a few of yours actually. I dont know the electrical schematic one.

Also, you would have gotten the same response from anyone on here. Posting in something that is over a year ago.... thats just plain pointless.

 

I got it all figured out and fixed on my own. No help was found here nor by talking to a so called Mits tech. The tech and so called parts pros at Autozone and Advance Auto Parts all told me the ECU from a sedan would not work in a wagon. Once I tried it, the car fired right up and runs like a champ. From now on, I'll just stick to my instincts and forget talking to the guys who think they know everything, but actually are more than likely "parts changers". I'm sure you've dealt with them before. You know, "let's change this part and hope it fixes the problem." The only scan tool I have is an OBDII and it only works on 96 and up vehicles so I was totally screwed on this 93. Anyway, if you have a Mits, I hope you enjoy it for years to come. They are definately fast and fun to drive.
