Default 2005 Endeavor XLS IAC Code

I have a 2005 Endeavor XLS that I am looking to buy from a friend. it has 90k on it and has the check engine light on. i took it to Autozone and they said the code was bad IAC/low idle RPM.

It said the sources of the problem were vacuum leak, dirty throttle body or bad IAC.

I couldn't find a vacuum leak. It could be a dirty throttle body, but my gut says it isn't that. May be you would disagree. The car seems to idle fine the two times I have drove it, but the weather was good (60ish degrees F).

I havent even been able to find a IAC part online anywhere. Does anyone know where to come up with one of these? Are they expensive and hard to change? Do they break normally?

Other than that, are these good cars?

Clean the throttle body first.

Your idle is computer controlled, so if it continues to be an issue you will need to have your PCM tested.

I dont have the info with the actual code number. I can try to run back by autozone to see if they will run the code again. What I do know is that the code was for bad IAC/low idle RPM. I don't actually feel this when I drive it, but the check engine light being on is annoying.

It said the sources of the problem were vacuum leak, dirty throttle body or bad IAC.

I need the code to give you more information about next step to follow. cleaning throttle body it is a easy task. Use only throttle body cleaner and I am suggesting you to remove throttle body before cleaning. Another step is to check for air leak on intake . If you already did that ....the code can give me more information. Usually air leak come with o2 sensor code or misfire code. You can buy an Actron scanner what is very easy to use. 165 on amazon. You will need for the future issue with the car and in the service a diagnose cost around 100$ Make yourself the calculus .

Cleaning throttle body involve disconnect connector on MAF sensor remove air filter, wire connector on throttle body, 2 hoses and 4 screw (throttle body) For easy and more space to work remove the battery first. Always when you are working on the car disconnect the battery.
