Default wont start in cold

i have an 07 mitsi endeavor, 12k miles on it and it will not start in the cold, unless i have my foot pressed down on the gas pedal all the way. it turns over and sometimes acts like it wants to start but does not, eventualy it will start while gas pedal is pressed. when the vehicle warms up it'll start with no problems, accept it will occasionaly stall out as soon as its idle levels out. once the vehicle cools down, it does the exact same thing. now ive had it at a dealer for several days now and they cannot give me any answers accept that my spark pluggs were fouled out. i changed em even tho they were just fine, same issue. paid for a throttle body cleaning, same issue. upper engine decarb, same issue. anyway, im just a guy with not alot of money to toss at it so i am hopeing someone can give me a direction to start in in tracking down the problem myself or a solution to this problem. altho i have not found much on the internet about this issue , none on this vehicle but similar problems on other makes n models, i have persanly seen others with same year endeavors with the exact same issues. tho their's had much more milage on em. any help would be considered and appriceated, thank you!

I heard something similar on BMW Z3 forums. Check your O2 sensor, your thermostat, and the MAF (mass air flow system). Here's my take, you step on the gas and the chamber gets flooded with gas, you spark plugs are okay but you have to keep the idle higher to warm it up. It may be that the engine is not getting enough air to keep the spark lit which drives the engine. It cant be fuel injectors as, so it might be the air mix that's causing the issue.
I would also suggest staying away from the stealership. It seems that if they can't figure it out they shouldn't be working there. It can't be the spark plugs because that just gives the spark, if they are clean and not corroded then that's not even something to change. When you step on the gas and it revs then why worry about the throttle body. I'm leaning more to the O2 sensor, this regulates the amount of air to keep the spark, and keep the engine running. This is not too expensive of a fix, but I'm not even sure that's the issue.
You can also try this, take out the air filter, keep the air box open and start the car. This may help get air into the engine. If it starts easily without issue you've just narrowed the issue down further that it is related to air intake.
I don't know if this will help, as this has never happened to our 2004 Endeavor. Good luck. I hope things work out.

Hard to say why that keeps happening, how cold of weather are we talking? From what you have described I keep leaning towards MAF. Another possibility is leaking fuel injectors but unlikely at 12k. I would also check the timing belt timing, if the belt skipped it could cause some starting issues. Being an 07 with 12k it should be under warranty, your dealer should fix it.

Default Difficulty Starting-how to fix it...

I bought a 2005 Endeavor with 50,000 miles. It had a similar problem. When cold it would only start if you had the gas peddle hard to the floor when you first try to start it cold. If you forgot to do that it would fail to start and then you just couldn't start it at all.

The dealer couldn't fix it but the local Blue Ridge Motors BMW mechanic found the answer online. It was caused by the "throttle" air butterfly valve sticking. It is controlled electrically instead of by an old fashioned cable. He took out the spindle and cleaned and lubricated it. My son has done 145,000 in the vehicle now with no further problem!

You said you had the throttle housing cleaned and it has only done 12,000 but it still might be worth a try.
