Are Evos as good as they are on paper?

also the Evo 2.0l MIVEC can be tuned to 552bhp before any motor block mods need to be made

if you have tried to launch an EVO a 3500RPMs it just doesnt move, maybe MIVEC can help but still it boggs the hell out of the car unless you want to replace the clutch after a small amount of 3500RPM launches because it would take some serious clutch work to get it to go LOL hell I cant even launch mine under 5K without bogging the car. why else would all the guys running 05 EVOs do the 5K launch limiter removal mod for the track ya know

I am not sure about the IX EVO but anything higher than 500WHP on the VIII is really not good to drive hard on the stock internals. yes they can be but not for to long anyway.

I got a question what turbo is the IX useing? is it still the Twin Scroll 16G or is it now a 20G? I read somewhere it had the 20G but found that a little hard to belive. Since the car is still somewhat rare I dont know

its a 20g turbo. and yes it takes quite a bit of clutch feathering and work to get a proper launch. But it is a hell of alot easier on the TC system, and you have it right that the best RPM to launch an Evo is at about 4500rpm, but you are looking at alot more wear and tear on the clutch and TC.
