Lemon Law
I am writing this to inform every EVO owner how easily it is to be screwed by a dealership when your EVO comes in for a "warranty problem". It all started back when I first bought the vehicle and there was grinding in 3rd gear, I brought the car in to check the problem and they replaced my synchros for 2nd and 3rd gear and while they were in there they notice the diff.'s main gear was damaged so they replaced that as well. Couple of months later I have grinding in 4th, so I take my car to GIllman Mitsubishi which is in houston Texas on ranking road. They tell me there is no problems that I just need to switch to royal purple gl4. That seemed to help out quite a bit but it was not even 2 weeks later a horrible noise was coming from under the car when I was driving and when I let off the gas there was a metal to metal sound. I take the car back in and it turns out that the transfer case was shot and the tranny had to be rebuilt along with brand new 4th and 5th gear synchros and clutch, flywheel and throw out bearings. They tell me that they wont warranty the vehicle but will pay for parts as long as I pay for labor. This pissed me off so I decided to go through CR and the mitsu. rep said that if I want to take that route that they would let my car sit there until I paid for everything or until a judge tells him other wise. Well I dont have the leisure to let my car sit there so I pay for parts and go about my buisness, not only that they are saying that they will no longer warranty my car all because of a aftermarket exhaust. Well a little over 500 miles the car is making the same noise again so I take it in yesterday and they cant find the problem. Mr. charlie padiea(not sure if thats spelt right) says he will not help me in any form or fashion so I picked up my car wich does not even have 15,000 miles on it and left the dealer today with a very noisy car. The Mitsu. Rep(Mr. padia) said that some evo's make the noise and some dont. I did not pay for a car that makes a ****ed up noise and now im in the pursuit of doing a lemon law. I love my evo and have full intention of giving up my car and being put into a new evo. I dont want to screw Mitsu. I just want to be taken care of. This is my 2nd Mitsu in 4yrs and you would think that they would take a little bit better care of a customer...especially a repeat customer. If any one has any advice that would be greatly appreciated. Right now im waiting on a phone call back from mitsu. to c if they will be able to work with me, I dont know why they wouldnt, im willing to spend even more money throuhg them so it seems like a fair situation.
