the Evo is the better buy for power and racing track and autox but the r32 is more of a daily driver car that you might not want to try to make more than 500HP because they are 90% FWD the Evos make huge power there are a hand full in the 900-1000HP range

ORIGINAL: RCJr9186

definatly 2 different LEAGUES! the R32 is cheaper and a lil lighter but not nearly as powerfull and an EVO would have it by far stock to stock. the biggest thing about EVO's that people love is how well they take MOD's... the IX's take them much better b/c of the bigger turbo but with a simple TBE, MBC, intake and flash tune you arre looking at 340-370whp... that is absolutly insane and unheard of to gain almost 100whp just off of those few mods. but some still don't feel that 16-20k justify's the power. i've wanted an evo for the longest time and been back and forth back and forth (just ask mike... him and i both get sick of it) but i simply cant afford it. if i got one i would get an IX. they are down to 25k now but won't be under 20k until early - mid next year. there is a big deabate on if the new EVO X will either make the price of VIII's and IX's go up or down. most people think it will make them go down just because it's the new thing BUT some also see it as these 2 years being the last years w/ the 4g63bT in them so it's a wash as of now. i'd personally wait and put a good chunk of chang down. tha'ts what i planned on doing but some unexpected bills came up and i won't be able to buy an evo until 2010... so i'm just dealing w/ it.
wow i feel you on that whole situation. I talked to one of my guys who has a car shopo and does mods to all cars spcifically german cars and he said the evo is an awsome car and reliable. I am starting to lean towards it bc he mentioned that the r32 has no chance to keep up with it, the 2.0t gti would be a better choice just bc you can tweak it more. but i really think im going to save up like 10k and throw it down on an evo ix. Im not even looking to do any major work to it for some time. I just want the actual car.

Wise choice and even the 2l GTi would need alot of help to compare. all I need to tell you is test drive the Evo and I garentee you will NEED to have it. That is how i got one because honestly I was looking for an STi and had my heart set on one untill I tested the Evo
