Not sure ob 1\4 miloe for the IX but they should be relitivly the same as the 2005 VIIIs

the VIII MR runs a 13.3 Not worth paying an extra $5k for IMO

the MR comes with bilstien shocks that are a lil softer they are more for comfort not performance the MR has the 6 speed tranny which to me is a pain in the ***** because they have the same final drive so it means you have to shift like 100 times in daily cruising since the gears a shorter down low. The MR has alluminum roof which helps out make up some of the difference from the heavier tranny. and I think that is about it other than the fact MRs are worth more and have more rare colors and difference rims. but I dont see spending the extra $$$$ just to say you have a 6spd MR since they are hardly faster and you could take that extra $$$$and make the non MRs insanely fast

 

Actually, the regular Evo 9 is faster than the Evo 9 MR....

MR has a 6 spd tranny which weights alot more than the 5 spd. it is only a few tenths of a second difference but the MR is not built to be faster. the changes were more along the lines of keep performance but adding a bit of luxary as well the bilsteins just make for a smoother ride and the tranny

 

I thought the SSL was the Evo designed for luxury?

The Aluminum roof is to lower the center of gravity and the aluminum hood for weight reduction. The 6spd tranny is one heavy beast making the car the heaviest with the exception of the SSL (not offered on an MR).

Oh yeah...according to Mitsubishi the 5spd gets better gas mileage than the 6spd..go figure. There was only like a 100rpm difference in 6 at 80 in my MR compared to my friends 03 Evo.

My take:
RS-best for track
GSR-dd + track
SSL-dd
MR-dd + some track.

 

SSL is a street racer car since it is made for the driver to feel comfy, the others lack the luxary which makes it feel like more what it was built for
