RE: quick clutch question
I did some reasurch and the stage 1 isn't the stock clutch, which is good I guess. Their stage 4 twin disk cost's approximately 1,976 and their other twin costs 2,641. Way expencive! anyway here's a link, just scroll down and u could see their lineup. http://dev.coximport.com/exedy_clutch

Go For the exedy Twin disc. it will hold what you want it to and its good on the drivetrain

RE: quick clutch question
when we did the clutch job on my friends evo, he was also faced with the same debate you were, Wanted alittle bit more then stock, yet still wanted to be easy on the drive train. After a couple days we decided to go with the act 6 puck sprung.clutch pad and clutch pad only. Using the stock throw out bearing and stock pressure plate. This allows you to have maximum clutch grab, yet still yeilding to the drive train with the stock pressure plate. We placed a fidanza light weight flywheel. and the car is driving perfect to this day. It's been well over 6 months.
Not too hard on pressure, perfect for daily driving, easy on the drive train, and still hard when you need to place torque to the wheels. I dont remember him having shift lock, that most probable when your into high horsepower applications like F.O.G car.

If you going to use the stock pressure plate, make sure to resurface it , if it has heat checks.

RE: quick clutch question
Gus its nothing to do with High HP.. its High RPMs. alot of evo owners that are not modded o deep in there cars dont realize that the stock rev limiter is past redline. its set at 7400 stock and most tuners bump it up to 7800 on just a flash. At RPMs that high youll get lock out. I was pulling my car t 7800-7900 at the track and it hit gears fine with my granny shifts. And THe only times I have shifted hard have been 1-2 at 7500 and that was good and from 2-3 at 7800 and no lock out. Other clutches esspecially ACT dont fare as well some are fine most are not

RE: quick clutch question
Wow. wish we knew this before we installed the ACT. We would have gone with the Exedy clutch pad. But so far it hasnt given us any problem, maybe becuase the car is faily stock, and we shift at 7-4 anyway. Thanks for the info mike..
We'll probably switch it up next time i have an evo come in for a clutch job.
